Even small perfection can bring great results . A small softdrink company competing for the franchise of a big corporation secured that franchise due to the neatly typed and folded letter that the consultant for the company sent to that corporation. He himself was amazed when the head of that corporation told him that it was the neatness and perfection of that letter that convinced him to allot that franchise to this small company overlooking giants in the field. Optimizing A Work Accomplishes
I was watching an interview of famous comedian and actor Steve Martin by Charlie Rose. When asked at the end what advice he would give others to be successful, I thought Martin might say you that have to work hard, or that you have to really, really want it. Instead he said that you have to try to really stand out, and you do that by doing what you do very very well. It made me think about the book I’ve been writing, and what it will take to garner such attention, and thus bring about real accomplishment.

The Power of Now in Work
To be absorbed in the Eternal Now exclusive of all else is a subject popularized recently by Eckhart Tolle, though its inspirations go back to the profound ancient spiritual texts of India. With that in mind, here are several thoughts on how to bring the Power of Now to our daily work.

-Focus on the work before you, not something else you want to do, or resorting to indolence. This the key starting point.

-Focus completely on the present, without thought of past or future.

-Patiently do that work, with no apprehension, tension, and demand.

-Do the current work as carefully and perfectly as possible. Fully absorb yourself in trying to reach that perfection. This is another key.

-Consecrate the work to bring life's conditions under control.

-Move to the depths and feel the silence and timelessness, and work from that poise. Meditation or concentration can support that effort.

-As a result of living in the depths over time, you will have intuitions of the past influence on the present, and intimations of where the present is going in the future. You will thus know at each point what to do in the present.

-Maintain fully positive attitudes at each point.

-Be cheerful throughout.

-The goal is to create the greatest Efficiency in the work -- i.e. the greatest results with the least effort in the shortest period of time.

-In the peace and demands of the Now, we can create ultimate perfection.

-It will be accompanied by breakouts of sudden good fortune - i.e. Life Response.

Flawlessness & Perfection that Attracts
Flawlessness in any work, whether it is a music performance or writing a letter, is no easy job. A South Indian company, very small in size representing one third of one percent of the national market, had the temerity to apply to a British multinational for its franchise. The tiny company was speechless when their application was granted. After a year when the British and Indian partners became close, it came to light that the British company had granted the franchise because they were impressed by the company’s first letter. The Indian company, in order to write that simple short letter, had entrusted the job to a perfectionist. Though it was a simple work (we can even call it a silly job), perfection in all its aspects made the multinational grant the franchise. (MSS)

Life Response of Flawless Perfection
I invite people to undertake any simple work and do it flawlessly to perfection. It may be printing a book, conducting a meeting, negotiating a deal, etc. Should it qualify for flawless perfection, the next moment they will be catapulted to a high position. (MSS)

Life Response Examples as a Result of Perfection
-A company had just launched a new product, yet did not yet have any sales on the product, despite considerable effort. One day the manager decided to go through the operations manual to update it to the latest information [i.e. to perfect at the letter of details], including procedures related to the new product. He did this late in the work day. Early the very next morning he saw the first order for the product come in through the company's web site.

-An individual organizes his web site for greater clarity and organization, and gets a positive life response. 

-An individual decides to begin the long process of eliminating spelling mistakes and other grammatical problems throughout the organization's 1000 page web site. Immediately he gets a number of positive life responses.

There is a law of life: what you do and how many things you are in does not matter, but what matters is how PERFECT you are in even one of them. Take one thing, do it perfectly, you will see yourself in the next zone. It enables you to see the result, gives self-confidence, optimism is born and then you are a different man. Interest in exploring the details of a problem can instantaneously attract a positive response from life that solves it.

Precision Enables Vast Success
Science is a MARVEL today on the strength of discovery, forging fresh new tools of measurement, securing greater knowledge of metals, gases and all other things, their dedication to Truth and several other things. One of the basic requirements of science is precise precision. Those who know the subtle truths of life know the Science of Life too demands equal precision. By which one of your pens you have signed your letter later decides whether you are going to end up as a senior executive of a huge corporation or its CEO.

Perfect Execution
Make an exhaustive and complete physical effort. Achievement in any field requires an enormous investment of energy and painstaking physical execution. Unfailing success requires that the energy be full and the execution perfect. You cannot achieve unfailing success if your actions fall short in terms of the skill or effort or perseverance required for achievement in this field.

Flawless Perfection of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) that Brings the Infinite to the Finite
In the field of spirituality, the phrase ‘the Infinite emerges out of the finite’ occurs constantly. In human life, such a phenomenon is understood as a miracle.

This is achieved in a variety of ways. One such method is to reach perfection and make it flawless at all points of work. Such a method will apply to a losing concern, a booming company, a household, an office, in agriculture or any work anywhere. This is a well-known method widely practised, but rarely elevated to perfection, especially flawless perfection.

Whatever the task, it can be broken down into 10, 20 or 50 smaller functions. They are called Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs. When the list is shown to another, he must not be able to add even one missing step. When no small step has been overlooked or taken for granted, the SOP for that item of work becomes perfect. If someone who is new can take that SOP and from that can run the machine or do the work well, the SOP becomes FLAWLESS. Flawless perfection has the capacity to transform our consciousness from the human to the Spiritual. At home or in the office or in a company, there are a hundred or two hundred such functions — letter writing, Xeroxing, despatching, answering phone calls, running a machine, etc. etc. SOP writing must cover all the functions without missing even one, however small it is.

For doing this much, a losing concern will become an earning proposition. A company that earns good profits will double them. Family income will rise 100 percent. Add the Spirit to it, which means in doing each single act or before writing each single item of the SOP, call the Spirit - think of the Spirit or the Mother.

By qualifying on all these three scores: 1. writing down the SOP to flawless perfection; 2. writing an SOP for every function without missing any, 3. thinking of the Spirit at each point, 4. implement what is written down, a locally successful company will spread all over the state or nation. That is the Infinite emerging out of the finite, the Maximum becoming our minimum.  (MSS, edited)

Moving to 100% Perfection Provides You with Infinite Energy of the Spirit
Once you acquire a shade more of skill in one aspect of the work, you will see the work is not tiring. It has no end. To move from 70% of skill to 95% of efficiency is possible for all of us. At that level there will be job satisfaction and unflagging energy. To go beyond the 95% each one percentage of improvement will appear to require a Himalayan effort. That effort itself is energising. Suppose you reach 99% perfection and you are determined to reach 100%. You will discover that to cover that 1% you need as much energy as you spent in reaching at 99%. It is so because he who touches 100% perfection moves from the human effort to spiritual energy, which is endless. (MSS)

Another powerful strategy that is not mentioned in ‘‘The Secret’’ is the importance of the Infinitesimal. When we seek a great goal, we often disregard the small details as insignificant and unimportant. In fact, the very opposite is true. The best way to progress toward a great accomplishment is to make every small act as perfect as possible. To us the infinitesimal and the Infinite seem like opposites. But spiritually, the Infinitesimal is a manifestation of the Infinite. That is why it is very difficult to perform even the simplest act perfectly. If you try to keep a room perfectly clear, you will constantly discover areas that have been missed or that cannot be maintained in that condition. If you try to make everything you write – even the most casual message -- error-free, you discover that it requires enormous attention and effort.

The CEO of a small local beverage company in South India wrote to one of the largest multinational soft drink companies applying for a distributorship in that area. He put enormous concentration into preparing the letter without a single error or imperfection. To his utter amazement his small company was selected over much larger firms. When he asked the VP of the multinational why his small company had been selected, the VP replied that he was extremely impressed by the letter the CEO had written.

High achievers know that perfection in small matters is powerful. Avoid clumsy movements, loud noises, spilling, breaking, tearing and every other form of disharmony with the environment. When your goal is high accomplishment, the very best method is to make ever small act as perfect as possible. It is a method that brings a much greater result, much sooner. The printer in the West whose book is without printing error has a vision of physical perfection from which he never deflects. It is perfection for perfection's sake.
