Grace
Grace is the Divine choosing to act on his own, for his own reasons,
unknowable by human reason. (MSS, slightly modified)
Grace Acts on Its Own
Grace acts on its
own. For us to bring ourselves to move Grace, all that we should do is
to withdraw the faith from every other aspect. That makes Grace act. For
instance, when salary arrears of fifteen years are pending with the
government, the mind will naturally rely on rules, procedures, etc.
Grace cannot act as long as faith is there in any other aspect of life.
(MSS)
Grace
Beyond al our spiritual efforts to connect
to the spirit, there is the direct action of the Divine. Grace does not
wait for us to connect to spirit; it occurs on it's own. Grace, a direct
action of the Divine in our lives, organizes and conducts everything for
us and the world around us. Our awareness of its action releases in us a
deep universal Joy of existence.
Grace in Action
We know enough of Grace. We rarely see it in action, especially
in our own lives. The stamp of Grace expresses variously: an idea comes
from outside; it looks as if the exact conducive circumstances already
existed; people, against their normal doubting, act positively and
encouragingly; work moves swifter than can be imagined; there is a sense
of elation that is inner elevation of consciousness; unskilled persons
execute jobs skillfully; there is a smile on every face; what we seek
moves towards us as if it is answering our unvoiced call.

On Grace
-What happens on its own is an act of God - Grace choosing to act in our
lives.
-He who is unconscious of Grace takes conscious steps to eliminate the
instrument that delivers the boon. (MSS)
On Grace
-Grace is the divine action coming from above and acting in our life
when we are not insisting on our human folly.
-One who is
drowning is saved by a bystander, a pure act of Grace. We do not know
that Grace is ever-present on earth and is acting non-stop whenever we
do not INSIST on our human intellect, our capacities or our
understanding.
-By being open to this FORCE, one eternally qualifies to
receive Grace at will. (MSS)

What the
Circumstances of Life are Teaching Us
All the
circumstances of life are arranged to teach us that, beyond mind, faith
in the Divine Grace gives us the strength to go through all trials, to
overcome all weaknesses and find the contact with the Divine
Consciousness which gives us not only peace and joy but also physical
balance and good health.
(The Mother)
The very first condition is that the Grace acts on its own conditions,
conditions of truth, not according to the demands of the human Mind
which is false. To us our falsehood appears as Truth. We take our
desires as our wants. Duties go before rights, we simply ignore then. It
never strikes us. Only that we know our prayer is not answered. Surely
it will be answered when you cease to be irrational and do not assert
your ego. (MSS, somewhat modified)

Grace in Atmosphere of Good Will and Ill Will
If one lives in an atmosphere of good will, Grace moving towards
him announces itself as a happy incident. If the atmosphere is one of
ill will, incoming Grace is heralded by an act of disturbance.
(MSS)
Grace and Super Grace
Faith brings in
Grace;
absence of faith in one's capacities brings in
Super Grace.
(MSS)
Supergrace
Grace becomes supergrace when man withdraws his reliance from his own
capacities.

Rewards, Grace,
Supergrace
Rewards of work coming to us is luck. Greater rewards than the work
deserves coming to us is Grace. There is a further stage called
Supergrace.
Rewards go to the right man. Grace acts occasionally.
Supergrace is a rare incident on divine occasions. Then rewards that are
not your due or your due ten years later or rewards that should go to
the entire organisation come to you as if you were the chosen receptacle
for all the grace in the atmosphere. (MSS, extracted)
Qualities that Attract, Repel Grace
People fall into two categories. One is endowed with
foresight. The other is used to crisis management. Those with foresight
continuously receive Grace. The others create crises by their casual
attitudes and the incoming Grace is fully absorbed by the crises.
There is one more category of people who are immune to Grace. They are
casual, refuse to shoulder any responsibility, pay little attention to
their duties, do the minimum necessary to survive. Well-wishers point
out to them the value of being serious and responsible, but they are
deaf to such importunities, because they are unaware they are refusing
Grace. Their standard reply is, "Everything is
fine with me. Why do you raise an issue now?"(MSS)
Turning Away from Grace
Man is an adept in turning away from Grace. If we look upon the past
events of our lives, we will see NOW how many times we have actively
declined Grace. (MSS)
Further Grace Comes by How We Respond
to It When it Comes
An individual should
deserve Grace by the way he receives it. The
very best method is to feel a deep gratitude in the very cells. The next
best is to know it came by Grace in spite of the lack of several
qualifications in him. The moment he has received the job, he must
endeavour to remove the disqualifications. That way, he will physically
deserve what comes. (MSS, slightly changed)

Anyone faced with a multitude of
problems can pray and solve them. There is another method. Let him
look at what recently came to him by Grace and offer gratitude for
it. All his present problems will disappear. Gratitude is the divine
sensation that attracts Grace. (MSS, extracted)
Grace and
Protection When in Difficulty or Trouble
The grace and protection are always with you. When in any inner or
outer difficulty or trouble do not allow it to oppress you; take refuge
with the Divine Force that protects. If you do that always with faith
and sincerity, you will find something opening in you which will always
remain calm and peaceful in spite of all superficial disturbances. (Sri
Aurobindo)

Money
vs. Rain Grace
In the experience of innumerable devotees, cleanliness is more
money, a smaller expression of grace. Rain is a richer expression of
grace. A further expression of grace is not to think of rain or money or
any methods. (MSS)
Accepting Grace Positively or Negatively
One may accept Grace positively or negatively. To accept
positively means to accept it is grace, knowing its spiritual value.
Negatively means we accept it for the material benefits.

Self-Giving and Grace
Self-giving expresses love, receiving it as grace from above.

As the beating of the heart, breathing, digestion, etc. were

Invoking Rain through
Grace that Emanates from Utilizing Flowers
Rain responds to the flower "water"
(Porana). It also responds to Grace (Cotton Rose Hibiscus), as
rain is the material expression of God's Grace. The best method of
attracting God's Grace is to develop higher consciousness. Good will is
one important strand of the higher consciousness.
Therefore, good will attracts grace and consequently rain. Beyond
knowledge lies decision and determination. Grace flowers offered to the
Mother bringing rain are a common experience. Someone pointed out the
relationship between the last Grace plant dying and the drought in a
certain year. Grace flowers being brought is different from Grace
flowers brought with a decision behind it.
Decision backing the act converts rainfall that falls short of the mark
into excess rainfall. Twenty inches of rain in May is unusual. The
department of meteorology classifies rainfall of more than two inches as
heavy rainfall. Grace brought with decision and determination on various
occasions has yielded rainfall in 24 hours of four inches, eight inches
and on one occasion even 11 inches. (MSS)

Answers to Prayer Beyond the Level
Through Which We Believe
The Divine grants our prayer
through what we believe in. One who believes in influence to get a
government job will get it through his influential contacts. Suppose one
can use money, has VIP contacts, status, etc., but disregards them and
relies ONLY on the Divine, She grants his
prayer by a procedure not in the department or life.
(MSS, slightly modified)
That is pure Grace. Devotees have received orders from the government in
defiance of the rules to the contrary.
Benefit, Results that
Come from Flowers
Our devotees know that flowers are powerful in bringing us the desired
results. Especially devotees know of two flowers, 1) protection
(Bougainvillea) and 2) harmony (Coral Vine).
Quarrelsome families become QUIET when harmony flowers are brought in.
It is well known that protection flowers kept with us bring protection
in any impossible condition. To get the full benefit of the flowers we
offer to the Mother, we must resort to securing the full knowledge of
the flowers and the full knowledge of the issue for which we seek
protection or harmony.
Rain responds to the flower "water"
(Porana). It also responds to Grace (Cotton Rose Hibiscus), as rain is
the material expression of God's Grace. (MSS)

Gratitude to Grace
We often experience a
thrill for various reasons. Spiritually, thrill is described as body
sensing the action of Grace.
A young man is selected in an interview. He is relieved of the tension
he was so far in. A case is judged in one's favour. The client is
pleased. A negotiation turns out to someone's expectation. He is
satisfied. He understands how it concluded so.
He sometimes knows the role his skill played. Relief is of the nerves,
pleasure is a positive feeling of the nerves. Satisfaction is of the
mind. Understanding is a mental process. What acted in the interview,
the judgment, and the negotiation is, in fact, Grace that is behind.
Grace is God's action on His own without any propitiation or prompting.
In all the above cases, the concerned persons were not aware of Grace.
Man is usually oblivious of Grace. The mind recognising Grace gives
belief. Recognition is not gratitude. Deeper down the vital - the nerves
- recognising Grace is joy. At the deepest point lie the body and its
sensations. The body recognising the action of Grace by its sensation
and offering in turn a sensation of gratitude is thrilling.
If you have ever escaped an accident narrowly, think what was your first
response. We exclaim, "It is good luck".
There are other times we continue our journey without referring to the
accident or escape. Man is not usually aware that gratitude is NOT a
ready sensation he ever feels. Even miraculous events receive such
responses.
Draupadi was in the court. She was humiliated . Her husbands were
powerless to help, having become slaves. The great souls of the court
and the King himself went dumb. She called Krishna who responded to her
call. Her honour was saved. She was relieved.
She went on her tirade against dharma, court, eminence, traditions etc.
That miracle happened in the public court. No one in the story ever
mentioned that great MIRACLE after the event or after they left the
court. Even Draupadi seemed to be oblivious of it.
She met Krishna a long time later. There was no mention of the subject.
In this event, we see the normal oblivious, unconscious, human mind that
is self-centred.
One experience of the devotees was examined, analysed, rationalised,
subjected to close scrutiny and the considered result is: Should a
devotee be aware of the overt acts of Grace in his life and take the
full inner effort to feel a sensation of Gratitude, prayer will be
superfluous to him in future.
Spiritually, any spiritual BOON for which he has to undergo austerities
for years will come to him unasked, the moment he is ripe enough to
receive it and retain it. Anyone faced with a multitude of problems can
pray and solve them.
There is another method. Let him look at what recently came to him by
Grace and offer gratitude for it. All his present problems will
disappear. Gratitude is the divine sensation that attracts Grace.
